It's been quite a while since I've done a round up of favourites and I've discovered some awesome new things in June so it seemed like the ideal time. Below are some things I've been loving over the last month. 1. Books of Your Life podcast I love a good podcast when I'm out on [...]

A Post Of Witchcraft And Wizardry

January 11, 2019 Jen Eden2 Comments

In case you didn't already know I am a bit of a Harry Potter fan. So when I saw this Harry Potter tag on Writing The Blues Away I couldn't resist doing it too! 1. What house are you in?  According to every sorting test/quiz/whatever I have ever taken, I am a Gryffindor. This constantly [...]

Thriving on Witchcraft and Wizardry

June 12, 2018 Jen EdenLeave a comment

A bit of fun for today! I spotted this tag over at Sprinkle and Dreams, and the lovely Lily was kind enough to invite me to join in. Being a lover of all things Harry Potter I, obviously, accepted! https://giphy.com/embed/FaLhiZQHrBIYwvia GIPHY When you're done here, you should all go and follow this lovely literary blog. [...]

Raindrops On Roses

May 7, 2017 Jen EdenLeave a comment

Hello lovelies. It's been a hell of a few weeks. It's been busy, tiring, stressful, emotional and I've had this post in the back of my head for probably a month now without doing anything with it. As it happens, a post focusing on a few of my favourite things is just what I need [...]

National Poetry Day – Sharing a favourite

October 6, 2016 Jen EdenLeave a comment

A rather late post but I've still made it (just) inside National Poetry Day. I couldn't let today pass without sharing my favourite poem: Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll. This is my favourite for a number of reasons. It gets the top spot partly because I just love the nonsense and the rhythm and the language [...]

Something Bookish This Way Comes…

September 29, 2016September 29, 2016 Jen EdenLeave a comment

There's something exciting coming in the world of book subscription boxes... something that takes the magic of travelling by book one step further, by bringing a little bit of those bookish places straight to your favourite reading spot. Fernweh Fiction is a brand new subscription box from @thetravellingreader. Inspired by trips around England, and using the [...]

Random Meme

June 13, 2015June 9, 2015 Jen EdenLeave a comment

Random meme swiped from Get It All Down Do you need to write down things to remember them? Generally, yes. Do you keep a diary/journal? Of sorts. I have a day to day diary for appointments and stuff which gets filled up with doodles, quotes and random musings, as well as a visual journal which I [...]

Beating the January Blues

January 6, 2015January 6, 2015 Jen EdenLeave a comment

We've already established that January is hard. Post-festive blues set in along with the realisation that you have eaten too much and now some of your clothes just don't quite fit. It's back to work, early morning alarms and instead of reading all the books, playing the games or watching the films you got for [...]

THRIVE – Buy the book!

You can now buy a copy of my book, Thrive, in paperback or ebook right here.

Welcome to Thrive In Chaos

A place for books, writing, mental health advocacy and general musings.

Come say hi.

Instagram

It has been so amazing to see people’s copies of Thrive arriving and all the reviews and feedback I’ve had so far have been beyond wonderful. There are just no words to describe the feeling of seeing this work out in the world and hearing the warm response it is receiving so far. Swipe to see some of the early reviews! Thank you, thank you, thank you again from the bottom of my heart.❤️ If you’d like to order a copy it’s available in paperback and ebook from the link in my bio. If you’ve already got a copy please send me a pic or tag me in a post with it and use the hashtag #ThriveBook and if you have the time to leave an honest review on Amazon and/or Goodreads it would be very, very much appreciated. Thank you again for all the love and support so far.❤️ #Writer #writersofinstagram #writingcommunity #amwriting #blogger #author #write #writersofig #writing #aspiringauthor #writergram #selfpublishedauthor #selfpublished #kindledirectpublishing #debutbook #authorsofinstagram
Another sneak peek inside THRIVE for you today. This piece is one of my #WildAndImprobableTales, the form for which were inspired by @erinmorgenstern’s Flax Golden Tales. I have absolutely loved playing with this short form fiction and it has challenged me as a writer. Each of these tales were based on an image prompt taken from the @theschooloflifelondon small pleasures box, and the original versions were all written in no more than ten sentences. Some have been edited and extended slightly for inclusion in Thrive but they all retain the essence of those initial restrictions. I’m so happy to have been able to include them in my debut book - they are some of my favourite pieces. If you’d like to get your own copy of Thrive you can buy from Amazon - link in bio. Thank you all so much for your continuing support.❤️✨ #Writer #writersofinstagram #writingcommunity #amwriting #blogger #author #write #writersofig #writing #aspiringauthor #writergram #debutbook #debutauthor #selfpublishing #selfpublishedauthor #ThriveBook #authorsofinstagram
I refuse to let today be just a dark and disappointing day. I am determined to find and create joy wherever I can. And so, I could not be more excited to reveal the cover of my debut book, THRIVE (swipe to see)! I can also share with you that it is now LIVE FOR SALE on Amazon!! It’s actually very appropriate that it should all go live the after such a damning election, because the essential message of this book is that we have the power to THRIVE despite what life may throw at us.💛 I’ve been blown away by the lovely messages and enquiries about where you can buy copies already - thank you so, so much for all your support. I am just over the moon to be able to share this work with you. It’s been a labour of love and is very close to my heart and I dedicate it to all of you amazing people. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Link to buy the book in the link.tree in my bio. ✨ #Writer #writersofinstagram #writingcommunity #amwriting #blogger #author #write #writersofig #writing #aspiringauthor #writergram #selfpublished #selfpublishedauthor #poet #poetry #poetrycollection #shortfiction #debutbook #debutauthor #kindledirectpublishing
When the proofs of your debut book arrive just when you have bookish friends over... That’s right. It’s here. I am holding in my hands actual physical copies of a book I actually wrote and actual people are actually reading them. My heart is so full. 🥰 More sneak peeks will be forthcoming but right now I’m going to go cry with pride and emotion and just overflow with all the feels. Thank you to everyone who has encouraged and supported me to reach this point. You’ll never know just how much your love has meant to me. This book that I wrote - it’s for you all.❤️ #bookstagram #bookstagramuk #bookworm #booklove #bookstagramfeature #bookstagrammer #bibliophile #poet #poetry #shortstories #writer #writersofinstagram #writingcommunity #amwriting #blogger #author #write #writersofig #writing #aspiringauthor #writergram #selfpublished #selfpublishedauthor #authorsofinstagram #indieauthors #ThriveBook
Today has been the most active day I’ve had since my surgery. I pottered around the house this morning, doing little bits of tidying and cleaning (with many pauses!!), then left the house (for only the second time in over two weeks) to go for lunch with my dad and step-mum and now I’m knackered but happy! It’s tired me out but not as much as on previous days and it was lovely to get out and have a change of scene. I whipped up a batch of dough during my pottering this morning and now that’s baking in the oven so I’m putting my feet up with a fancy hot chocolate and Christmas Bake Off whilst the aroma of fresh bread slowly spreads through the house. It’s nice to start feeling more like myself. I’m hoping to be able to read and write more over the next week or so now that I’m regaining some brain power. The Starless Sea still has me completely enchanted and I’m dipping into some books of poetry that have been on my bedside table for ages. All in all, it’s nearly Christmas and things are on the up! ☺️ Also, I had an email to tell me that the proofs of my book are on their way and should be with me by the weekend!! 😱 So excites! Thank you to everyone who had sent lovely messages and shared my last post. Love you all.😘 QOTD: how are you getting ready for Christmas? #bookstagram #bookstagramuk #bookworm #booklove #bookdragon #readmore #bookstagramfeatures #somanybookssolittletime #armchairadventures #bookish #bookstagramfeature #bookstagrammer #bibliophile #bookblogger #ILoveBooks #selfpublishedauthor #authorsofinstagram #writersofinstagram
***SNEAK PEEK*** You guys! Today I submitted the final edits on my manuscript and illustrations and I officially have a book in the last stages of pre-publication. Which means it should be published BEFORE CHRISTMAS!!! 😱😭 I’m so excited. If any of you are in need of last minute Christmas presents look out for the link to buy when it goes live. 😉 I promised you some sneak peeks so here’s the first. “If you are Lost And fumbling in the endless Night Remember The darker the shadows The brighter the light that casts them. And one day That hidden glow Will meet the flame That hides inside you And the radiance of both Will Burn The blackness Away.” I’ll be sharing a few pages from the pdf over the next week or so whilst I wait for the paperback proofs to arrive. Also, watch out for a cover reveal in my stories.👀 QOTD: how was your Monday?✨ #Writer #writersofinstagram #writingcommunity #amwriting #blogger #author #write #writersofig #writing #aspiringauthor #writergram #selfpublishing #selfpublishedauthor #authorsofinstagram #debutauthor #debutbook #independentartist #independentpublishing #illustration #illustrator
Just adoring getting lost in The Starless Sea. This book had some flipping high expectations to live up to. So far, it is every bit as magical as I had hoped. Bravo @erinmorgenstern 💛✨ You are a true virtuoso. #bookstagram #bookstagramuk #bookworm #booklove #bookdragon #readmore #bookstagramfeatures #somanybookssolittletime #armchairadventures #bookish #bookstagramfeature #bookstagrammer #bibliophile #bookblogger #ILoveBooks #erinmorgenstern #bookishchristmas #bookandchristmastree
You guys, I may not have won NaNoWriMo this year but something exciting is happening... A long time ago I started working on a collection of poetry and micro fiction. It was a passion project I was doing on the side of my attempts at novel writing. Something fun for when I needed a change of pace and space to play with ideas. But it has become much more. This little collection is where I’ve felt my creativity come alive. Where my writing has had room to breathe. And I’ve fallen in love with it. I edited and pieced all the words together a little while ago and, although I was happy with what I’d written it felt unfinished. So this week I started playing with some illustrations. And it’s all fallen together. Suddenly I can see this book coming to life. And I’m proud of it. So..I’m plunging in. Full steam ahead. And I will be looking to self publish ‘Thrive’ very, very soon. WHO’S EXCITED?!?! 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️ QOTD: anyone interested in some sneak peeks...? #Writer #writersofinstagram #writingcommunity #amwriting #blogger #author #write #writersofig #writing #aspiringauthor #writergram #selfpublishing #poet #poetry #poetrycollection #thrive #passionproject
Happy to be mobile enough to get downstairs and enjoy our Christmas decorations now. I’ve set up camp next to the Christmas tree and am ready to get lost in The Starless Sea, which - 26 pages in - I’m already completely in love with. @erinmorgenstern is, without doubt, my literary hero. QOTD: what are you reading at the moment? ##bookstagram #bookstagramuk #bookworm #booklove #bookdragon #readmore #bookstagramfeatures #somanybookssolittletime #armchairadventures #bookish #bookstagramfeature #bookstagrammer #bibliophile #bookblogger #ILoveBooks #thestarlesssea #erinmorgenstern #bookishchristmas
