Merry Of Soul

August 20, 2018January 4, 2019 Jen EdenLeave a comment

Sing me a song of a lass that is gone, Say, could that lass be I? Merry of soul she sailed on a day Over the sea to Skye. Billow and breeze, islands and seas, Mountains of rain and sun, All that was good, all that was fair, All that was me is gone. Sing [...]

In Love With The Season

November 2, 2016November 2, 2016 Jen EdenLeave a comment

This is absolutely my favourite time of year. The trees are aflame and their burnished colours make the world seem warm even when that autumn chill pierces the air. It's time to snuggle up inside cosy layers: jumpers, scarves, boots, hats - it's your time to shine. The nights close in earlier and earlier, and [...]

Summer Highlights

August 30, 2014August 30, 2014 Jen EdenLeave a comment

It's that time already. Summer is drawing to a close, it's time to head back to school, but before we do that I though I'd share some of the loveliness that has filled my summer this year... We had a fab visit from my oh so lovely sister in-law who had the honour of being [...]

Welcome to Thrive In Chaos

Come say hi.

(Is there anything better than a Monday off work?! )
Just so happened that one of the bookshops we visited yesterday had one copy of @ladybookmad’s latest - unlock your storybook heart - and I just happened to have exactly enough points on my loyalty card to treat myself. Clearly it was meant to be. And I am HERE for the autumnal aesthetic - it’s what my storybook heart lives for. 🧡🍂🍁 Having a poetry moment this weekend so this was the perfect addition to my book stack. Just finished @brian_bilston’s Alexa, What Is There To Know About Love; making my leisurely way through @holliepoetry’s Slug (and finding that every page increases my wanting to go for coffee with her!); dipping into @hannahlowepoet’s The Kids and reminiscing about my teaching days; and now I get to have my heart warmed by more brilliant words from Amanda Lovelace. Recipe for a happy weekend.🥰
Breakfast and research! I’m currently working on a presentation for the Greater Manchester Development Conference happening in September, where I’m going to be speaking about the importance of communicating sustainability effectively and with integrity. During this week’s heatwave in the UK, I’ve seen a lot of defeatism - cries that ‘it’s too late’ to address the climate crisis. This is both untrue and unhelpful. I’ve also seen a lot of content that, whilst factual, focuses only on the bleak state of things without leaving room for hope.
Had an absolutely bloody marvellous time listening to @holliepoetry and @michaelpedersenoyster at @homemcr last week and now their writing is filling up my every spare moment.
Very excited to be going to see the ever awesome @holliepoetry at @homemcr tonight! 🤩 Just love, love, love her poetry.❤️🗒✍️
There is a scream inside me,
Next up on the holiday reading list: You Made a Fool of Death With Your Beauty by the inimitable @azemezi. Very excited to dive into this beauty.
