Off On the Right Foot

Another new year and another round of resolutions waiting to be broken. I know it makes sense to make resolutions at the start of a new year, but it’s also a funny time to do it. Post-Christmas it’s all a bit dull, there’s a big gap until the next holiday, it’s still the middle of winter (here at least) so it’s cold and usually wet and generally quite…grey. It is not a very motivating time of year. And so many of our well intentioned resolutions fall by the wayside rather quickly. Which shouldn’t be the case. After all they are resolutions for the whole year, not just the first 6 weeks.

So here’s my advice; don’t try and change too much too quickly, don’t expect to make big changes without some setbacks along the way, don’t over complicate change and DON’T make yourself feel guilty if one or more of your resolutions isn’t quite going according to plan.

You have permission to fail.

Make new resolutions throughout the year. Scrap the ones that just aren’t working and find an alternative. Find something about your life that really worked for you in 2014 and resolve to keep doing it. Resolve to be good to yourself: mind, body, spirit. Resolve to give yourself a break. Resolve that instead of trying to do everything all at once, pick one thing at a time and do it well.

Hello 2015. Bring it on!

Hello lovely readers! The sun seems to have disappeared this week and has left lot of cold and wet in its wake. In spite of this I think there are lots of lovely things to keep the Autumn chill at bay…like hot chocolate and pretty scarves! So regardless of the grey and dismal weather I hope you find yourself on the corner of awesome and bombdiggity this week. 😊

Finish each day and be done with it. Blunders are bound to happen, after all we’re only human. Don’t dwell on them or continue to struggle. Move forward and focus on today with lightness of being, not weighed down with the absurdities of yesterday. Breathe and enjoy each new day.
